OnePlus 16 Could Be a Monster — 9,000mAh Battery and 165Hz Display
OnePlus is preparing what could be one of its most aggressive flagship upgrades yet. The OnePlus 16 is already generating attention thanks to a combination of a 165Hz display, a huge 9,000mAh battery and Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
The phone has been officially confirmed to be in development, with OnePlus revealing that it will feature a 165Hz screen and new gaming-focused technologies. Most of the remaining specifications, however, are still based on leaks and reports.
A 165Hz Display That Could Be More Useful
The display could be one of the OnePlus 16’s biggest upgrades.
Recent leaks point to a 6.78-inch custom BOE panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Unlike the OnePlus 15, where the extremely high refresh rate was particularly focused on gaming, reports suggest the OnePlus 16 could support 165Hz across more system and app scenarios.
That could make everyday scrolling, animations and supported games feel noticeably smoother.
There have also been reports that certain games could push the display to 185Hz, although this should still be treated as a leaked specification rather than a confirmed feature. Earlier reports even suggested OnePlus had tested refresh rates as high as 240Hz.
The 9,000mAh Battery Is the Real Monster
The most exciting rumor surrounding the OnePlus 16 is its battery.
Multiple reports point toward a massive 9,000mAh battery, significantly larger than the 7,300mAh battery found in the OnePlus 15.
If OnePlus manages to combine that capacity with an efficient next-generation chipset and LTPO display technology, the phone could offer exceptional endurance.
For heavy users, that could mean longer gaming sessions, extended video playback and more time on 5G without constantly looking for a charger.
Fast charging is also expected, with reports suggesting support for 120W or 125W wired charging, while wireless charging could reach 50W depending on the final configuration.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro Could Power It
Performance should be another major focus.
The OnePlus 16 is widely expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, a next-generation flagship processor designed to deliver improvements in CPU, graphics and AI performance.
OnePlus is also reportedly preparing new gaming technologies for the phone, including improvements to its gaming engine and high-refresh-rate experience. That combination could make the OnePlus 16 particularly attractive to mobile gamers.
Reports have also mentioned next-generation LPDDR6 RAM, although the final memory configurations have not been officially confirmed.
A Major Camera Upgrade Could Be Coming
OnePlus may also be targeting one of its biggest camera upgrades yet.
Leaks suggest the OnePlus 16 could feature a 200MP camera, with reports differing on whether that sensor will serve as the main camera or a telephoto/periscope camera. Other rumored cameras include 50MP sensors for the ultrawide and telephoto systems.
A high-resolution telephoto sensor could be particularly interesting because it would give OnePlus a stronger weapon for long-range photography and zoom.
However, the camera configuration remains unconfirmed, so these specifications should be viewed cautiously.

A Slimmer, More Premium Display Design
The OnePlus 16 could also receive a design refinement rather than a complete redesign.
Leaks point toward extremely narrow and symmetrical bezels surrounding the flat display. The custom BOE panel could use advanced packaging technology to reduce the amount of bezel around the screen.
That could give the phone a more premium appearance while maximizing the usable screen area.
When Could the OnePlus 16 Launch?
OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will arrive later in 2026. Current reports point toward a launch in China around September or October, although OnePlus has not publicly confirmed an exact launch date.
India availability and pricing are also yet to be officially announced.
The Bottom Line
The OnePlus 16 could be a monster of a flagship if even most of these leaks turn out to be accurate.
A 9,000mAh battery could make battery anxiety almost irrelevant, while the 165Hz display could give gamers and everyday users an exceptionally smooth experience. Add the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, new gaming technologies and a potentially powerful 200MP camera, and OnePlus could have a seriously competitive flagship on its hands.
The important caveat is that several specifications remain based on leaks. Until OnePlus officially reveals the complete phone, the battery, camera configuration, charging speeds and other details should not be treated as final.
But one thing is already clear: OnePlus isn’t planning a boring upgrade with the OnePlus 16.
