Plaud One Explorer Edition: AI Earbuds That Work Without Your Phone

AI earbuds are becoming more than devices for listening to music and answering calls. The Plaud One Explorer Edition takes that idea further by combining wireless earbuds, conversation recording, AI processing and cellular connectivity into one wearable system.

The biggest difference is its charging case, which comes with 4G LTE connectivity and an eSIM. This allows Plaud One to remain connected to PLAUD’s AI services without depending entirely on a nearby smartphone or Wi-Fi connection.

AI Earbuds Built to Capture Conversations

Plaud One can record conversations in several ways. The earbuds can capture phone calls and online meetings, while the charging case can be placed on a table to record in-person conversations.

The case features four microphones with AI beamforming and a pickup range of up to 16.4 feet, according to PLAUD. The earbuds also contain three MEMS microphones designed to improve voice capture during calls and recordings.

Once a conversation has been recorded, PLAUD’s AI platform can transcribe, summarize and organize the information, making it easier to turn lengthy discussions into useful notes.

From Recording to Taking Action

Recording conversations is only part of what PLAUD wants its earbuds to do.

The company has introduced Plaud Agent, an AI system designed to understand information from conversations and help users take action. PLAUD says it can work with services such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion and Slack.

That could allow information from a meeting to become follow-up emails, calendar events, notes or other tasks instead of requiring users to manually recreate everything afterward.

For professionals who spend hours in meetings and calls, this could make the device more useful than a conventional voice recorder.

Hardware and Battery Life

The earbuds feature 12mm dynamic drivers, adaptive active noise cancellation of up to 40dB, transparency mode and LDAC audio. They use Bluetooth 5.4 and support multipoint connectivity.

PLAUD rates the earbuds for up to six hours of listening with ANC disabled and 4.5 hours with ANC enabled. With the charging case, total listening time can reach up to 36 hours.

The earbuds support up to six hours of continuous recording, while the case can provide up to 25 hours of recording. The earbuds are also rated IP54 for water and dust resistance.

Price and Availability

The Plaud One Limited Explorer Edition costs $249.99 in the US, with availability announced across several other markets.

The bigger idea behind Plaud One is the company’s attempt to make AI more naturally integrated into everyday life. Instead of waiting for users to open an app and type a prompt, the device can capture real-world conversations and use AI to understand what happened next. If PLAUD’s agent technology delivers on that promise, Plaud One could become an interesting example of where AI wearables are heading next.
