Claude Fable 5.1 Arrives With a Big Focus on Coding, Agents and Knowledge Work

Anthropic has just given Claude a major upgrade. Claude Fable 5.1 is now available as the company’s latest model for demanding coding projects, long-running AI agents and complex knowledge work, while Claude Mythos 5.1 brings the same underlying model to a much smaller group of vetted cybersecurity and life-science organizations.

The interesting part is that Anthropic is not positioning Fable 5.1 simply as a better chatbot. The company says it is designed to handle work that can take hours, span multiple applications and require the model to recover from mistakes without constant human supervision.

Claude Fable 5.1: Built for Long-Running Work

Fable 5.1 is now generally available to Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise users. Developers can also access it through Anthropic’s Claude Platform and cloud partners including AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry.

For developers, the biggest focus is coding. Fable 5.1 can work across entire codebases, perform code reviews, tackle performance problems, write tests and run longer autonomous coding sessions. Anthropic also says the model can use vision to compare its output with the original design.

Its agent capabilities go beyond coding. Fable 5.1 can operate across applications, use tools, work through large backlogs and continue tasks with less supervision. It is also designed to handle documents containing charts, tables and diagrams, making it more useful for research, analysis and enterprise workflows.

What Is Claude Mythos 5.1?

Mythos 5.1 is aimed at more specialized work. It is currently available only to vetted organizations through Anthropic’s trusted access programs, with access limited to a set of US organizations while the company works toward broader availability. Its focus includes advanced cybersecurity and life-science research.

Anthropic says Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 use the same underlying model, but Fable has stronger safeguards for potentially dangerous cybersecurity and biology applications.

Claude Fable 5.1 Pricing in India

Anthropic lists Fable 5.1 at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, while cache reads cost $0.25 per million tokens. These are USD list prices; Anthropic does not publish a separate official INR price for the model.

Using an approximate ₹85/USD conversion, that works out to roughly ₹850 per million input tokens and ₹4,250 per million output tokens. Actual Indian billing can vary with exchange rates, taxes and the billing platform. With Fable 5.1, Anthropic is clearly targeting users who want AI to finish complex work rather than simply answer individual prompts. That shift toward longer-running agents could make this one of the company’s most important Claude releases yet.
