Mac mini M6
Apple has announced its latest desktop lineup, introducing a new Mac mini with the M6 and M5 Pro chips alongside an updated Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra. The new models were announced on August 25, 2026, with Apple putting a major focus on on-device AI, graphics performance and professional workloads.
New Mac mini Gets the M6 Chip
The biggest change comes to the compact Mac mini. The new M6 version features a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU and Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the M6 Mac mini delivers up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster graphics and storage, and 40% faster CPU performance compared with the previous M4 model.
The M6 Mac mini comes with 16GB of unified memory as standard and can be configured with up to 32GB. Apple is also highlighting its ability to handle on-device AI workloads, making the small desktop more useful for developers and users working with AI tools.
For professionals, Apple is offering the Mac mini with M5 Pro, which can be configured with up to an 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU and 64GB of unified memory.
Mac Studio Gets M5 Max and M5 Ultra
The new Mac Studio is designed for considerably more demanding workloads. It is available with M5 Max or the new M5 Ultra.
The M5 Ultra configuration can reach up to a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU and 512GB of unified memory. Apple says the new Mac Studio can deliver up to 4.3x faster AI performance, along with improvements to graphics and CPU performance.
That makes the Mac Studio particularly relevant for AI developers, video professionals, 3D artists and other users who need substantial computing power.
Connectivity Gets an Upgrade
Both desktop lines now support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The Mac mini also gets 2.5Gb Ethernet, with a 10Gb option available.
The M5 Pro Mac mini includes Thunderbolt 5, while Mac Studio also features Thunderbolt 5 for high-speed storage and professional accessories.
Price and Availability
Apple has officially listed India pricing for the new Mac mini. The M6 model starts at ₹39,990, while the M5 Pro version starts at ₹2,09,900. Education pricing starts at ₹35,490 and ₹1,97,900 respectively.
The new Macs can be pre-ordered from August 25, with availability beginning September 22, 2026.
The Bottom Line
Apple’s latest Mac lineup is clearly focused on the growing demand for local AI and high-performance computing. The M6 Mac mini offers a compact option for everyday users and developers, while the M5 Pro version targets heavier workloads.
For professionals who need considerably more power, the M5 Max and M5 Ultra Mac Studio take Apple’s desktop performance much further.
