Google’s latest smartwatch is here, but the biggest changes are not immediately visible. The Pixel Watch 5 keeps the familiar circular design while putting much more focus on AI, health tracking and fitness features. It was unveiled at Google’s Made by Google event on August 12, 2026, with pre-orders beginning immediately and sales starting August 20.

What’s New in Pixel Watch 5?

The Pixel Watch 5 is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes and continues with the same overall design language as its predecessor. The more important upgrades are inside the software and health experience.

Google has added deeper Gemini Intelligence features through Wear OS 7. The watch can provide proactive assistance, while AI-powered features can help with workouts and create personalised experiences directly from the wrist.

The watch also gets a Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated processor, 64GB of storage and Wear OS 7.

Health and Fitness Features

Health tracking is one of the biggest areas of improvement.

The Pixel Watch 5 introduces Blood Pressure Trends, Insulin Resistance Trends and Sleep Breathing Quality features. Google is also adding Breathing Emergency Detection, which can detect critically low blood oxygen levels and trigger an emergency response in supported situations.

For workouts, the watch can provide AI-generated strength-training plans and improved GPS accuracy. These features are designed to make the watch more useful during both everyday activity and structured workouts.

Pixel Watch 5 Price

The Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399 for the 41mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model and $429 for the 45mm version. LTE versions cost more, while the Stephen Curry Edition is priced at $579 and launches September 3.

Google’s India Store currently lists the Pixel Watch 4 rather than the Pixel Watch 5, so an India price and availability should be confirmed separately before publishing an India-specific price claim.

Is Pixel Watch 5 Worth Buying?

The Pixel Watch 5 is more of a software-focused upgrade than a major redesign. Its familiar design remains, but Gemini features, improved fitness tools and new health tracking make it a more capable smartwatch.

For Android users who want Google’s AI and health ecosystem on their wrist, the Pixel Watch 5 is one of the key smartwatch launches of 2026.
