Vivo X Fold 6 India Launch Set for a Stunning October6 Debut

October 5, 2026 7 Min Read

Vivo X Fold 6

vivo is bringing its latest book-style foldable smartphone, the vivo X Fold6, to India on October 6. The company has teased the phone ahead of its vivo NEXT 2026 event, confirming that the foldable will be part of the upcoming India launch.

The event is scheduled to begin at 12 PM on October 6, and vivo’s teaser shows the X Fold6 in the Nebula Teal colour. The company has also shown a mixed-reality headset in the teaser, although it has not confirmed whether that product will launch in India or simply be showcased at the event.

The X Fold6 was already introduced in China earlier this year. Its India arrival brings a powerful combination of large 120Hz displays, a 7,000mAh-class silicon-carbon battery, 80W charging and a 200MP ZEISS camera system to the Indian foldable market.

Vivo X Fold 6 India Launch Date

The vivo X Fold6 will launch in India on October 6, 2026, as part of the vivo NEXT 2026 event.

The launch event will begin at 12 PM onwards. vivo India’s October 3 teaser directly features the X Fold6 and announces the October 6 event, moving the launch date beyond the earlier tipster reports that had suggested the same date.

The phone had previously been tipped to arrive in India on October 6 alongside the vivo V80 and vivo S2 FE. Those earlier reports suggested a 12 PM launch and also pointed to two memory configurations. However, the company had not confirmed the X Fold6’s India launch at that stage.

With the latest teaser, the October 6 India debut is now officially teased by vivo.

Vivo X Fold 6 Display

The X Fold6 is built around two high-refresh-rate AMOLED displays.

The inner folding screen measures 8.02 inches and uses a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer cover display measures 6.51 inches and also supports 120Hz.

The Chinese model features LTPO AMOLED technology on the inner panel, while both displays support HDR and high peak brightness. Reports on the global version indicate that the core display hardware remains similar to the Chinese model.

The large internal display is designed for multitasking, video consumption and tablet-style applications, while the outer screen provides a conventional smartphone experience when the phone is folded.

Both displays are also rated for very high peak brightness, with the Chinese model advertised at up to 5,000 nits under specified conditions.

Dimensity 9500 Super Powers the Foldable

At the heart of the X Fold6 is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset.

The processor is built using a 3nm process and is paired with Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip. The phone also uses LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage on the Chinese model.

The combination is designed to deliver flagship-level performance while handling the additional demands of a foldable phone.

The exact RAM and storage configurations for India have not yet been officially announced by vivo. Earlier reports suggested 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM with 512GB storage, but these should be treated as expected configurations until vivo confirms them for the Indian market.

Vivo X Fold 6

7,000mAh Battery With 80W Charging

Battery capacity is one of the X Fold6’s major highlights.

The Chinese model uses a 7,000mAh-equivalent silicon-carbon battery, which is unusually large for a flagship foldable smartphone. It supports 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, along with 5W reverse charging.

A large battery is particularly important for foldables because they have to power both a large internal screen and a conventional cover display.

The silicon-carbon battery technology also allows vivo to offer high capacity without making the phone excessively thick.

200MP ZEISS Camera System

The camera system is another major focus of the vivo X Fold6.

The phone features a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, paired with a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto camera with OIS. The cameras are tuned in collaboration with ZEISS.

This setup gives the X Fold6 a more versatile camera system than many foldable phones, particularly for users who frequently photograph distant subjects.

The device also has cameras on both the inner and outer displays for selfies and video calls.

For a foldable positioned in the premium segment, the emphasis on camera hardware is important because buyers increasingly expect flagship-level imaging alongside the folding design.

Slim Design and Durable Hinge

The X Fold6 also focuses heavily on portability.

When unfolded, the phone is reported to measure around 4.4mm thick, while its folded thickness is around 9.4mm. The hinge is rated for up to 600,000 folds.

The phone also carries IP58 and IP59 protection ratings on the Chinese model, giving it protection against dust and water exposure under specified conditions.

These features are important because thickness and durability remain two of the biggest challenges in the foldable-phone category.

What Software Will the India Version Use?

The Chinese X Fold6 launched with OriginOS 6 Fold.

For international markets, reports indicate that the global version uses OriginOS 7 Fold, and earlier India reports have also pointed toward OriginOS 7 for the Indian model.

However, vivo has not yet published the complete India specification sheet, so the final software version and India-specific software features should be confirmed at launch.

This distinction is worth noting because software can significantly affect the usability of a foldable, particularly when switching between the cover display and the larger inner screen.

Vivo X Fold 6 India Price

vivo has not officially announced the India price of the X Fold6 yet.

The phone starts at CNY 7,999 in China for the 12GB + 256GB model, while the 12GB + 512GB version costs CNY 8,999. Those Chinese prices cannot be directly converted into an Indian retail price because taxes, duties, distribution and local pricing strategy can significantly change the final figure.

Earlier reports have suggested that the Indian model could be priced somewhere between roughly ₹1.3 lakh and ₹1.8 lakh, but there is currently no confirmed figure.

For comparison, the previous vivo X Fold5 launched in India at ₹1,59,999 for its 16GB + 512GB configuration.

Therefore, the official India price will be one of the most important announcements at the October 6 event.

Expected India Variants and Colours

Earlier reports suggested that India could receive two configurations:

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB storage

The same reports pointed to Prism Black and Nebula Teal colour options.

However, vivo’s latest India teaser specifically shows the X Fold6 in Nebula Teal. Whether Prism Black will also be available in India remains to be confirmed.

The final variants, storage options and colours should therefore be confirmed during the launch event.

Vivo X Fold 6

Vivo X Fold 6 vs the Competition

The X Fold6 enters an increasingly competitive premium foldable market in India.

Its main strengths on paper are the large 7,000mAh-class battery, 80W charging, 200MP main camera, 3x periscope telephoto camera, dual 120Hz displays and relatively thin body.

Samsung and Google have focused heavily on software, durability and ecosystem integration in their foldables, while vivo is taking a more hardware-focused approach with the X Fold6.

That makes the Indian price particularly important. If vivo prices the phone aggressively, its combination of battery capacity, camera hardware and slim design could make it a strong alternative to established foldable options.

What to Expect on October 6

The October 6 event should answer the remaining questions around the Indian version.

The most important announcements will be the official India price, RAM and storage configurations, colour options, availability date and India-specific software details.

vivo may also provide more information about the mixed-reality headset shown alongside the X Fold6 in its teaser. The company has not yet confirmed whether that headset will actually launch in India.

Vivo X Fold 6: Final Takeaway

The vivo X Fold6 is officially teased for its India debut on October 6, giving Indian buyers their first opportunity to get the latest generation of vivo’s flagship book-style foldable.

The hardware already looks ambitious, with an 8.02-inch inner 120Hz display, 6.51-inch 120Hz cover screen, Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset, 7,000mAh-class battery, 80W charging and a 200MP ZEISS camera system.

But the India story will ultimately depend on pricing. vivo has yet to reveal the official Indian price and final configuration, so those details will determine how competitive the X Fold6 becomes.

For now, October 6 is the date to watch for vivo’s next major foldable launch in India.
